Necklace Hunting

The young girl made her way into the forest, it had been forever since she met her two friends, Charon and Spirit. It was acctually Charon that brought her to this forest today, she had grown since then and looked more like a small wolf than a pup. Her legs had slendered out and her fluffy pup fur left and was replaced by a thicker leaner coat. Sunlight shown here and there through the dark clouds that once again haunted the area.

The young wolf pounced on a pile of leaves, she hoped to get a chance to put these hunting skills to some real use before she left Pheonix Vally. A small ray hit her and, like usual, her fur reflected the blue tint everywhere. She didnt mind much anymore, it was just normal now. A sudden scent caught her nose and the girl quickly reconized it as Charons, she quickly fallowed it and made her way down to a small gully. Her azule eyes searched the area for the silver lupen.

"Char? you around here?" she waited patiently with her tail wagging in anticipation

Baha. Okay, sorry, but I really want Kae to encounter someone from PV so they can discuss the Xeris thing. ;] One thing I want to be clear about, I don't want this to escalate to a physical fight, so it might end up being a rather short thread.

The coyote woman made her way through the trees, moving swiftly and silently. Already, the colors and hints of fall were hinting at the edges of the trees as they turned brown and orange. There were only small patches now, but in the coming weeks the vegetation would turn the color of flame and wither away, falling to the earth to create a crunchy blanket to walk upon. Eventually, the rotting leaves would form the fertilizer for next years' fauna, and the whole process would repeat itself. This was how it had been in the last nine autumns of Kaena's life, and the tenth autumn would no different, she knew. Still, it was no less beautiful to watch. Each of the seasons was infinitely beautiful in its own way, though the hybrid woman preferred the temperate middle of Spring and Fall best.

It was today she decided she would take a walk, heading outside of the coyote territory for a rare venture. She had not had much reason to tread outside of coyote territory since the floodwaters had receded and the prey had returned to their territory, and even now it was simple curiosity and boredom with the same settings and faces which drove her outside of her own land. The hybrid woman held her head high as she walked in her Lupus form, strutting rather than walking. The ashen creature felt rather good about herself; Inferni had lost members but it was chugging along, that same core group of canines its pillar of strength. So long as Gabriel, Kaena, and Anselm were here, everything was alright. Now there was Fatin, too—the woman still had not been emerging from Kaena's cave often, and Kae was worried about her.

There was an unfamiliar scent on the air, and the coyote recognized its primary mask as Phoenix Valley. Her lip curled, and she wondered if it was the same white wolf she'd seen before. Naniko struck her mind, but the wolf who bore the scent was unfamiliar, so Kaena knew it was neither of the above possibilities after a moment of churning it over in her head. The hybrid woman was content to pass the bearer of the scent by and leave her be for the moment, were it not for her poor luck of being on the same scent trail as someone familiar. Charon, apparently, as a youthful voice beckoned the unknown stranger from the bush.

The youth before her had odd fur, mostly white highlighted by patches of silver. It was almost doggish in appearance, but there was little question in Kaena's head that the young canine was all wolf. She lifted a lip in response, showing one deadly-sharp, sallow tooth to the canine, her sun-yellow eye narrowing. There was no aggression in her, not yet—but Kaena did not feel like being bothered today, and that boded ill for any but the best of company that she might stumble upon. "No Charon here," she responded curtly, shaking her head to emphasize the sentence.

its ok, my character is still too young to survive a fight with anyone.

The canine that emerged from the bushes was no charon indeed. Her scent gave Rendall well known chills...coyote. The pups hackles raised quickly as the female approached her from the brush with her teeth baring. The child already knew that it wouldnt be good to run, so she stared the female right in the eye, getting a weary stance about her. As the girl inhaled more of the alarming scent, all too horrid memories emerged in her mind. Not only was she a coyote, but she was Inferni as well.

The child put her ears slightly back. This was the very animal she wanted to kill for hurting Xeris. However, her mind got the best of her, she wasnt old or big enough to win such a fight. So she quickly took a dominant stance and raised her tail. Keeping her eyes locked with the females. She tried her hardest to not be too agrresive, but she knew that if she didnt, she herself might get more than a few scars.

Sunlight hit her back and head, reflecting blue everywhere her black fur used to be. Her azule eyes kept soft but tentative, and after relaxing alittle, the girls fur layed smooth. "Who are you?" She wasnt about to push this female, but what else was she suppose to do? She couldnt attack her.

The silvery hybrid only sneered at the newcomer, her lip twisting upward and her muzzle wrinkling. This was a Phoenix Valley wolf, this was one of her clan's enemies—things had seemed to settle between the two groups as of late, but the hybrid was not absolutely certain of that. Valley wolves seemed to have a penchant for crossing coyote borders without second though; Kaena had been witness to two of them in the short months since her return. This wolf hadn't been either of the trespassers—but from the way she reacted, Kae was almost certain that the younger canine was well aware of her packmates' inclination to stomp coyote land, and no doubt, what happened to those who enjoyed traipsing across their territory.

There was dominance in the youngster's stance, but the silvery Centurion did not so much as flinch at it, the smirk sitting on her lips only increasing at the sight. Posturing was nothing to her, though wolf instincts screamed to either submit or show challenge to the sable-and-cream wolf's dominance, the hybrid woman did neither. The coyote and dog in her made it easier to resist such urges, though she certainly still felt them. There was no changing what went on in your head, Kaena supposed.

A question issued forth from the young canine, and the hybrid woman tilted her head to the side, her sharp yellow eye studying the Valley wolf for a long moment before she deigned to answer. "Kaena Lykoi," she responded. The hybrid woman did not believe in disguising her deeds with a false name, or throwing credit to others who did not deserve it. Some liked to hide their true names, but the hybrid woman was not among them. Smirking still, she had righted her head and now peered off to the distance, her sun-yellow eye still staring down the strange wolf. "What's it to you?" she asked, figuring she knew the answer already.

Rendall sat back on her haunches, still keeping a weary eye on the one-eyed female. her azule eyes studying the coyote hybrid. Her scent was the exact one that invaded the young wolfs senses when she discovered Xeris. From what she knew and discussed with Pendzez once, coyotes were a territorial bunch. She knew better than to mess with anything as little as she was. Though she may have a grown a bit, she still wasnt a match for anything really.

The girl flicked one ear forward at the females question. Although she didnt feel obliged to answer such a question. The scarred female did have a right to know. So she shrugged, rolled her eyes and stepped towards the female, though it was probably stupid and reckless.

" Your name to me is nothing really. Just a name," she made eye contact with the female to dissmiss any suspisions of dishonesty, Then continued, "Your scent however, tells me your the one who attacked Xeris." unlike some wolves, Rendall could see in full color, and she was sure to examine the female for future reference. To remember her every scar and every marking. " I'm sure you know this to be true and I'm also sure you had a good reason to as well. Had someone tresspass on my territory i'm sure i wouldnt be too pleased either."

The coyote woman was not surprised by the youth's accusations. They were true, and in further memory than that, Kaena had helped to chase another Valley wolf off of their territory, though her claims still interested Kaena. She regarded the sable-and-white wolf with her searing eye, her face unflinching as the youth boldly threw out the words. Again the hybrid stretched the silence before she decided to speak, carefully contemplating her answer.

The hybrid woman did not feel threatened by the younger canine, for she was on the smaller scale and certainly had little fighting experience. Still, she had friends, and should Kaena find herself face-to-face with several of them, she might end up on the losing end of the fight. So she thought of a response carefully, noting the fact that the Valley wolf had already acknowledged there was a likely reason behind the attack. That was a surprise, and a statement which caught the Centurion off-guard. She had expected furious defense of the wolf's friends and packmates, instead this admission of potential guilt was almost shocking to the hybrid woman.

Following her mulling, the hybrid decided to speak, her words slow and thought-out. "This Xeris, she was the white wolf?" the hybrid waited for an answer before continuing. "She was the second of your pack I found on our territory." the hybrid challenged, the snarl having long disappeared from her place. There was distrust on her face, as if she expected several more Valley wolves to pour out of the woodwork at any moment.

Still, the wolf here had seemed to commiserate, acknowledging that she wouldn't like it if she had found trespassers. Maybe there was common ground here? The hybrid woman decided to snap at the bait and test the waters then. "I do not walk on Phoenix Valley land," she stated simply—and it was the truth. Kaena had learned her lesson about parading on claimed lands some time ago, a lesson she had not forgotten in all her travels. Smiling an eerie, toothy sort of smile, the hybrid cocked her head.

"Perhaps your packmates would have avoided trouble if they could only respect coyote borders." Again, simple and logical words from the hybrid woman, and the truth. She had no quarrel with the Valley, and she rather avoided the packs in general. There was nothing for her there, so why should she seek them out? Her face remained stony as she stared at the youth, her body revealing little about her mood other than that she was irritated. There still was no aggression in Kaena; it would not be right for her to attack this wolf here on neutral lands without a damn good reason.

Rendall nodded as the female explained Xeris' distcription. 'Yes that would be her." she stopped and cocked her head. A second time? She looked at the female carefully. "Who was the first?" She wanted to know who it was that had done so, perhaps this is why she had acted to ferosiously towards her friend.

She thought about what Kaena said. As of right now, she didnt even know of any coyote territories, except for Inferni perhaps. "True, perhaps if you estblished your territory with alittle more force, or perhaps a non-violent warning to others, they wont tresspass without your permission anymore." she sat down next to the female. Her aggression towards her obviously gone.

She nodded her head in response to her accusation of her packmates. It was true that Vally wolves did find themselves in trouble alot, especially with Inferni wolves. She watched curiously as small rain drops sprinkled about them lightly, the sun still warming her coat. She examined the gully around them, not really concerned about the one-eyed female anymore.

A butterfly landed on the young wolfs nose. She stared at it for a while. It was becoming costom to her that butterflies came so plainly to her.The young girl looked down at her leg, an angry scar ran down her leg. The reason for all the butterflies.

The interaction with Skylar had not been forgotten; the ashen hybrid had simply pushed it to the back of her head, filing it away for further use later. In any case, the woman had not shown face around the clan anymore, and her particular scent had faded from the neutral lands, meaning she had either departed the land or stayed exclusively within the Valley's borders. Either was a possibility, and Kaena did not jump to conclusions. She had wished to discover more about this woman for some time, and should the young canine here have that information, the hybrid would be quite pleased. Skylar had claimed to be Jael's sibling, and Kaena knew his father to be Vitium Lykoi, her very son. There was no challenging that.

The coyote woman did not respond to the younger canine at her first words. She had not known Xeris's name prior to this, and it was good to have a name attached to a crime. She had claimed to be lost, but still—that was no excuse. And she should have run the instant Kaena showed fang, she should have known better. Kaena was quite right in her own mind, convinced of her duty to protect her own. "Her name was Skylar, a young hybrid. She was rather deep in our territory." The coyote peered at the Valley wolf with clear interest in her single eye now. "Do you know her?" she asked. Considering a moment, the hybrid woman watched as the younger canine appeared to lose her ferocity. That was good, though the Centurion would remain somewhat wary for a time.

There was an awkward pause. "We mark our borders with skulls to keep outsiders out. What more can we do?" she said, rather miserably, as if tired of fighting off invaders. It was partially true—there were many instances throughout the hybrid woman's life that she had to chase wolves from coyote territory. The issue of Skylar loomed more importantly for her at the moment, as this was an issue that had rolled over in her head for some time. Jael was gone, yes, but the hybrid woman was sure he would return sooner or later. They all did, and the fire-eyed white hybrid would come home to Inferni eventually. When he did, Kaena intended to be armed with knowledge to help him, including whether or not that Skylar had lied to him in claiming to be his sibling.

The pup searched her mind, she heard of the female hybrid but had never truely met her. Perhaps in her future travels the pup will run into her. She shook her head blankly. "I'm afraid not, I've heard of her once or twice. But I've never really met her." The child noticed Kaena was still looking alittle weary. She didnt blame her, enjoying your alone time in the forest and suddenly you stumble accross a suspiciously young wolf whos just happens to be alone. She would have been weary too.

She debated the border problem for a while in her mind. "Perhaps its time for the packs to have interclan meetings, at least for all the leaders for each clan." It didnt exactly sound like something everyone would enjoy, but it was the only thing she could think of. She laid down next to the female still trying to think of ideas that would help her predicament.

Disappointment flooded the silvery hybrid as the youth claimed no knowledge of Skylar. Perhaps this was a lost cause, and one she should abandon. Still, if the youth was a half-sibling of Jael, Halo, and Enigma, she must be a part of Kaena's family, as well, unless Jael's mother Colibri simply had a habit of breeding with coyotes. There was no question in the Lykoi woman's mind that Skylar had been at least partially coyote; her features were unmistakably blended and simply screamed "hybrid" to Kaena Lykoi.

She did not allow her disappointment to show, merely nodded. Appearing too interested in the Skylar wolf would simply make her appear suspicious, and though Kaena was angry that the wolf had been trespassing, it was long in the past and the Centurion would not seek vengeance for it. Unless she trespassed again—in that case, Skylar would be lucky to leave Inferni in one piece, especially if Kaena Lykoi was the one who happened upon her presence.

Her raptor's eye peered again at Rendall, watching as the sun danced briefly on her coat, illuminating it a brilliant and startling blue. Momentarily startled, the hybrid shook her head and figured it for an illusion, her mind returning to the conversation at hand. "Ah. I was only curious to discover her family—she claimed to be my grandchild's half-sibling," That sentence alone was resonating; the coyote woman wanted to find out anything about potential family, and that was an innocent enough venture.

On the other hand, if the she-wolf had been lying to them, hell hath no fury like a Lykoi deceived, especially not the matron of the family. The idea proposed by the youth surprised the Centurion, and she cocked her head to the side, clear interest showing in her normally passive face. "That would be a sight," she said quietly, though there was no overt disapproval in her tone. "Maybe if my son and I could sway the Alphas to push the idea that our borders are to be avoided, the situation would improve."

The hybrid woman did not like the idea of having to stand around with a bunch of wolves—especially since such a meeting would undoubtedly include Haku Soul, as he was the Dahlian subleader. The idea almost made her bristle, though she contained herself and buried the anger at the chocolate wolf well. The Valley wolf was still in close proximity, and since Kaena was both enjoying her company and learning something interesting, she did not wish to drive her companion away so soon.

The pup glanced at the hybrid, dissapointment clouded her features for a moment. She was sad that she couldnt offer the female more imformation. Kaena's wish to more of her family reminded Rendall of her own wish to find her family as well. She cocked her head to the side. "Ah, I see, if someone claimed to be related to anyone of my family, I would want to know more about them as well." The pup thought of her older siblings, she herself didnt know them. She only knew of them through stories that her mother told her.

She noticed that what seemed like surprise crossed the female's face for a split second, only then did she realize that she was still in the sunlight. The youth blushed and scoooted into the shade, she forgot that others outside the pack, with the exception of Char and Spirit, didnt know about her and her uniqe fur. "Sorry about that..." she said quietly befor giggling at the females repsonse at the idea of having a meeting.

Indeed, though it may not be a joyous moment, it would definatly be a sight to see. She cocked her head slightly at Kaena's mention of her son. It made Rendall truely wonder if her brother or sisters had any family and how old were her nieces and nephews. She saw a flash of distaste cross the hybrids face. " Indeed, it would probably help alittle, do you happen to have a quarrel with someone?" she looked off to the side, trying to explain her quick questioning. "Just curious, cause if so, they might be even more provoked to cross your bounderies."

The coyote woman was not used to other creatures warming to her so quickly, and it was a little disquieting at first, but Kaena had grown somewhat used to the wolf. She was still quite young, and perhaps she held no particular grudge with coyotes—all in all, Kaena simply did not wish to cause unnecessary trouble with Phoenix Valley. It severely helped that Rendall had not crossed her and pressed the issue with Xeris, but it seemed good that the younger canine almost agreed with Kaena on that front. Obviously there were better ways to deal with the situation than violence, but the silvery hybrid was a brutal and rather blunt creature, and she was certainly guilty of enjoying bloodshed.

Thankfully this was not something that was an overpowering urge for her anymore; in her youth she had simply wanted to tear the world into tiny pieces, and she had killed for no reason at all. The hybrid woman herself had no ancestral family to speak of; it had been stolen from her at an incredibly young age. Before she had passed a year of age, her father had slain her mother to save Kaena, his last living child. The silvery coyote's three sisters had perished under her mother's neglect, and Andre had returned just in time to save his starving daughter. Young Kaena was not destined to a peaceful life, however, and her half-sibling had ensured it by tormenting and abusing her, continuing right where her mother Delphine had left off. Again her knightly father had rescued Kaena from the very brink of death, but it was his final act of valor. The murder of her son had been too much for Sabryne, Kaena's stepmother of sorts, and she had killed her very mate, Kaena's father, for defending his daughter by another wolf.

Convoluted as it was on paper, Kaena understood perfectly well what had happened, despite being very young during these events. The hybrid woman could recall perfectly the viciousness on her stepmother's face, and she could also quite clearly recall the woman's fear as Kaena took her vengeance in turn for the murder of Andre. There was a bitter smile on the hybrid woman's face. "I have no family other than what I myself created, and it intrigues me greatly that it has grown in ways I couldn't have imagined," she replied, a cryptic answer indeed. Kaena was the very root of Lykoi, and as the family's matron she could attest to the birth of each litter of her children on Inferni soul. However, beyond that, mystery. The child's actions were not magically transposed to the mother's head, and Kaena could not possibly ascertain on her very own knowledge whether or not any supposed Lykoi of the third generation really was indeed Lykoi.

The hybrid shook her head, rather mystified by the woman's strange fur. The coyote cocked her head to the side, again watching as that odd pattern danced across her fur for just a moment. The hybrid was able to connect it to the sunlight, though she had no idea what would cause such a pigmentation. "No... it's rather pretty," the Centurion said, her blazing eye focused on the sable fur along Rendall's back. The shifting sunlight made the blue highlights dance across the Valley wolf's pelt, and the silvery canine was mesmerized for a moment.

Kaena was intrigued by the next question, a half-hearted smirk crossing her lips. Haku Soul was almost certainly alive. She had smelled him, scented just the whisper of the chocolatey wolf on the wind while creeping about Dahlian borders. A vague smirk crossed her face, and she firmly shook her head. "A lone wolf was harassing our borders lately, but was disposed of. Other than that, I doubt it. Inferni has a pretty tough reputation," she said almost dryly. It was well-known that the coyotes were not particularly friendly to wolves, though her presence here might indicate otherwise.

Rendall thought the female was quite interesting in a way. Granted the child wasnt too thrilled about her at first, but there were always two sides to every story. She had been terrified and upset when she found Xeris half-dead. However, after hearing Kaena's side, it was obvious that it had all been a vicious mistake. The female herself was a violent person, but the girl didnt think it was exactly her choice to begin with.

Rendall herself had a fairly good childhood, though she had been socially deprived of interaction from other wolves, she herself never had to truely fight for her survival. Her father and mother had fought for her, being too young to defend herself. "All of my family are dead...I think, I dont know about my older siblings, but my parents were both killed by my old packs leader." She could vividly recall the day the vicious Avery took her anger out on the pups father.

The child watched as the female studied her fur. The unusual tint of it danced around in the midmorning afternoon."Heh, thank you, I got it from my mother, but mine are alot stronger than hers were due to my fathers black fur." She wondered if any of her siblings had the strange highlights as well, or if they had turned out normal. The girl looked up to a smirk on the hyibrids face and cocked her head as she told her what happened.

"Maybe thats why so many wolves creep about your borders. They wish to break such a reputation, only to be the reason for its growth." She wondered what it was like inside the Inferni area and decided to respectfully visit the area before she left.

At her birth, Kaena had been like any other puppy. Quiet, curious, blind, stupid, and utterly attached to her mother and siblings. Things had been good for the first few weeks of her life, but her devil-mother decided quite suddenly that her four daughters were a burden. From there, it was only pain and abuse, and following that her chance at a normal life had been stolen, stomped on by her half-brother and her step-mother in one fell swoop. With the events of her past taken into consideration, how could she have turned out any differently? She was lucky she was not completely insane.

The hybrid woman wrinkled her nose at the youth's story, her silvery head cocking to the side. Her scarred visage released little information regarding her emotional state, but there was clear distaste apparent there. "Why would your leader kill his own? My ancestors are dead, but I have many children. Maybe when you are a little older, you can create your own family?" the silver woman offered, though she disliked the idea of wolves reproducing in general. Still, Rendall might yet fall in love with a male coyote and create hybrid children of her own, and even if they were full-blooded wolves, the younger canine seemed to possess no prejudice against coyotes.

The ash-colored coyte nodded, thinking it was an interesting trait, indeed. "Ah. My mother left her mark on me as well, though not in quite so nice a way," she said, one of her silver fingers tapping the vertical scars extending over each of her eyes. They were her oldest scars, hand-delivered to her by Delphine. The hybrid woman was enjoying this sharing; they each seemed to be trading information, learning a bit more about each other with each passing sentence.

Kaena considered the younger wolf's words. It made sense—especially to young, eager-to-prove-themselves teenagers, which seemed to be the majority of the wolves who meandered on their land. She grinned. "That makes sense. Too bad for them they don't listen to the warnings," she said nonchalantly. It was of no concern to her how the young canines of these lands chose to prove herself; it was her only duty to drive them back and away from the coyote's territory.

The child recalled how the the agrresive she-wolf slowly robbed the pup of any family that she had left.

"Avery, the cold hearted she-wolf, killed my father, her own flesh and blood, and eventually gave my mother wounds that had claimed her life as well. All cause of her hatred for those who are different. She hated my mother for being a luprici and my father for becoming one. and me for my strange tinted fur."She vowed to return the favor to the she-wolf. Her mother had taught her that revenge wasnt the way to live, and so she didnt. She did, however, keep it on her list of agendas before returning to Pheonix Vally.

"But I do intend on finding my brother and sisters. As far as I know they still live, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Its been a good seven months since I last heard of them, and I'm sure they're doing well, but anything can happen."She looked over at the hybrid and noticed a what seemed to be a flicker of innocent mischeif in Kaena's eyes, perhaps a thought for the pup had crossed the females mind.

The pup layed her ears back in distaste at the thought of such a mother doing something so violent to her daughter. Rendall's mother had always been kind and loving to her, mainly the reason of her attitude now. Even in her dying hours the she-wolf had told the child not to get her hopes down in life. "I'm very sorry to hear that. I'm afraid I dont fully understand that kind of treatment."

The young girl giggled at the hybrids response, it would be too bad for them. Wolves did seem to hold themselves in an egotistic manner now-a-days. Too proud for thier own being. In a way the pup admired the coyote-wolf, she was noble in her own tough way. Knowing very well what she had to do and thats the way it was. Pure rawness, pure honesty, and as much drama as there was in that, it was more real then some stuff that happened with the wolves.

BAHAHA SUPASPAM

The silver woman listened with interest as the midnight-colored Valley wolf spun her tale. Her sable ears flickered in fascination, as the Avery canid and his beliefs echoed to a more archaic time. A smirk came to her face, and she wondered what he would think if he knew that Lupercism was dominant, and some Luperci wielded weapons that could cut his feeble lupus body in half. The coyote shook her scarred head, her bright yellow eye regarding Rendall. It was in the hybrid's nature to be vicious and vindictive, and vengeance was a primary force of motivation for her.

She ran her pink tongue out over her lips rather thoughtfully as the younger creature continued to speak, remaining politely quiet and refraining from comment until the other creature had said her whole piece. "Fortunately, as a Luperci you have a distinct advantage over this Avery fellow. No, you cannot take on the whole pack by yourself... but should you encounter him alone, you can shift. He cannot," the coyote suggested, her sun-yellow eye lighting on one of the butterflies that had been fluttering around since Rendall had showed up. There was something almost magical about this youth, and Kaena was almost frightened of it, though she disguised this well.

She shrugged her sable-dusted shoulders. "It's very long in the past now," she said, and her voice was rather monotonous. It did not hurt too much to think of someone so long dead and buried. True, she did not like thinking of her mother—but it was Delphine's canis latrans blood that had granted Kaena the ability to call herself a coyote, so the hybrid woman could hardly hate her. The silvery woman did not know Delphine well enough to hate her. "Can't hardly pick who you're born to," she said distantly, thinking of her own children.

The womans words were true, Avery would be over powered by rendalls ability to shift into bigger and better forms. The she -wolf would easily fall under Rendalls paw. "Hmm? oh Avery is a she-wolf, whish makes her all the more heartless personally." She didnt want the hybrid to be offended, but sometimes, males were able to get away with being naturally agrresive than females. Especially with wolves.

The child listened intently to the females words. It made the girl wonder just what really happened to her companion. "I guess so, we cant choose who were born as or to." She sat in deep thought for a while before noticing more butterflies. She let out a short huff. " I really need to talk to my old mentor about all these things...They fallow me everywhere"

lol @ fail for not reading "she-wolf" :[ hahah!

The hybrid woman felt silly over her mistake; certainly Rendall must have used a pronoun in referring to the she-wolf leader, the Centurion must have simply missed it. She folded her ears back, masking the embarrassment beneath her usual grumpy mask. It had been some time since she'd committed an error like that, but naturally she was prone to them as was anyone else. For all her arrogance and pride, Kaena was a simple, stupid creature, bound to accident as any other. It had taken her some time to adjust to social life outside her own family, and even longer before she could trust herself with others, though the silvery canine knew at any moment she was as likely as any to snap.

The silvery woman thought about the youth's sentiment, wrinkling her nose in disagreement. In her opinion, females were often more heartless than males, since in the world's assumption that they were less likely to be violent or aggressive, those that chose such a lifestyle—Kaena herself, even—felt the need to double their efforts in being malignant. "Maybe. I've known just as many vile women in my life as I have men," the coyote said, knowing she herself straddled the gap between mother and killer. She had created and taken many lives, holding in esteem the ones she had made herself while stomping others to dust and dirt.

The coyote refused to delve further into the subject of her mother; she was a private creature by nature, and her earliest, painful years were kept a guarded secret from most. Eager to switch the subject, the coyote grew contemplative as she tried to find an explanation for the butterflies' existence. "It would seem they like your scent," she observed, noting now they landed on the blue-toned canine every now and again. The hybrid was not a scientific creature, though she figured that was as plausible an explanation as any for an insect to tag-along with a wolf.

lol its all good

The child glanced slightly amused at the female, but fixed her gaze somewherelse as not to provide further embarassment. However the childs amusement quickly faded with the coyotes next statement. Her ears laid back slightly, it was true. "True..." she let the subject die quickly, a subject that had many truths to it was always a subject fought over. She wasnt one to start a fight over a stupid subject of how many vile women and men there were. The fact that they were out there was vile enough.

She stood up cautiously and stretched her bad leg out for the female to show her the angered scar that claimed her narrow leg. The scar stretched from almost the top of her back down to her Achillies heel. She peered up at Kaena for a moment. "This is why they fallow me so...." Apart from her scarred forelegs this was the only other scar the girl had. Her Azule eyes examined the marks that melted into her body, telling the few violent sotries of the girls past.

She noticed that her scars were almost nothing compared to the matrons tattared body. Scars littered her rather beautiful silver coat. Her golden eye caught Rendalls gaze most. It was beautiful yet deadly, like most of Kaena.

The silvery canine also allowed the subject to drop, eager to escape her embarrassment and move onto another subject. The younger woman showed her some very odd scars, and the hybrid could not help but lean closer to the girl for a better look, her brilliant yellow eye widening as she studied the angry wound. "How did you come to bear such a mark?" she asked, her fascination growing with the woman's scar. Kaena loved to discuss scarring, as she herself had too many stories to tell. The hybrid woman bore many of her own markings, and each came with a particular story, some dark tale woven around the split and broken flesh adorning the Centurion's form. Kaena was not typically pushy with her own tales, as she preferred to tell them only to those who truly listened to them. She would certainly swap a story with Rendall, should the Valley wolf feel inclined to share the reason behind the wound with the silvery coyote.

The hybrid woman leaned back again to her former position, wondering why such a wound would attract the flying insects, hoping Rendall might delve into that as well. The hybrid woman had never suffered ill effects from her own wounds; they had simply healed and become less painful as time marched on. If a wound left a scar, it was remembered, as were the circumstances surrounding it. If not, the fight was not worth remembering to Kaena. Her gaze followed one of the butterflies as it landed on a blade of grass some feet away from them, flapping its wings and settling. It was rather calming and peaceful, though Kae could certainly see how it would grow irritating after a while. The hybrid woman was glad that she herself did not have to deal with such a thing.
