Even if it were all just beyond her control and out of her reach, Anu would never stop believing. Even when she looked within herself and all she saw was the darkness of despair she was never without hope. It was a flicker of light, and the smallest of candle flames. It brought warmth and guidance and the woman could always turn to it, no matter how immense the shadow grew. It was her way to light another wick, to set the blaze of hope in another.

Anu took in his name with a nod and a smile. The older wolf could see the darkness of insecurity and the shadow of anguish within his violet gaze. The loss was written on his face, deep in the soft cream hue of his cheeks and among the fiery brown he wore. He was Coli, but where she was blue and serene he held a blaze of passion in the red he had been given to wear from birth. His question was easy to answer, and with a shake of her head Anu looked to him. Silent for a moment, soft smile on her features. She tipped the candle, its small flame dancing the unknowing that shadowed their hearts.
“Go see her.” She said, her eyes smiling as her lips did as she lit his hope with her own.

“Go.” She commanded with confidence and without another word the woman began to walk. Her nose was to the wind, her ears forward to find the smallest notion of her voice. Anu knew the way, her paws traveling the trail too many times. She was ready to find the woman that was her home and begin anew.

<3!

Ears continued to push against the soft cinnamon fur in defeat, but Anu’s words were not lost on him. He wished he could be able to reach over and touch the radiating contentment and confidence running so strongly through her body. She had lived full years in this world and seemed to believe in that old saying that the sky would forever be blue behind those stormy clouds. If she believed, then he could too. Though resisting, Conor felt that he was starting to believe. He would not have to say anything in particular, only express the beautiful emotions pulsing through him with its own fire. Alexey would never be able to realize how special she was, but he could let her know how special he thought her to be. The woman’s gentle command rang in his ears with a melody lit with hope and warmth. He leaned towards her, drinking from her warm buoyancy. Conor Soul was conflicted now, for this woman was giving him hope that he had lived without until now. She was granting him an optimism that should not exist in such a young body - yet so often did. It pulsed and warmed his heart, couraging it to fight his more reasonable mind. At her last one syllable word he took a few steps back and then left her; walking with confidence that would wither and die before he was to reach Alexey Koios’ cabin. Yet, the flicker of light left there by the dreamer would dance and burn and would not let him rest until he allowed love an attempt to take wings.
