ooc: whisper beach.

Xeris looked to the sky, which was clear for what seemed to be the first time in an eternity. She smiled. It was good to see the sun again, as opposed to the grim gray clouds that had been hanging over the land for so long. Her golden eyes matched the hue of the sunlight as it sparkled upon the sand and waves. The white wolfess had chosen to be alone before shifting into her optime form today. Lately she'd been feeling more and more of an urge to stay in her feral lupus form, but for now she would take a break from that.

The gentle waves washed softly over her toes as she looked out over the ocean. Xeris took in the sights and sounds of the day; it was still rather pleasant here on the beach despite the oncoming winter and the colder temperatures. The breeze that was blowing upon her face now brought her a sample of that winter chill that she knew would come soon. Like it or not, the weather was changing. The winds of change were blowing.

Xeris was lost in thought for the moment, thought about the past and future. This would be her first winter at the 'Souls territory...her first winter on her own. It was both a happy and sad thought. It was times like this that the white wolfess wondered about her parents and what they were doing, back at the Retreat that she once called home. But here she had her own new family. Here, she felt safe.

OOC: ©table code and image to Gen; Sorry it took do long. Had a buncha stuff going on RL.

The boy was wandering still. It was all he could do. He had no home. He had nowhere to go. And on top of all that he was lost. But should that really be a surprise when he wasn't familiar with the area at all? No, of course it shouldn't come as a surprise. He had no idea where he was and so there wasn't much he could do about it. He had been left behind and he wasn't too sure why, All he knew was that when he had returned to their safe area his mother was gone. That had been hard for him to take. Which was why he was busy wandering about now. He had nowhere else to go. Knew of no one else. And so it was difficult for him. hard for him to figure out where to go and what to do. He didn't know how to make it on his own. But somehow he was managing to survive.

He wandered through the trees, uncertain of just where he was headed. The ground beneath his paws was weird. It was too hard to be actual dirt. He didn't know what to explain the black surface as being. At first he had been afraid to step paw on it. Actually he had gingerly touched it when he came to a part where he simply couldn't bypass it at all. His steps were light upon it though, ready to leap off should it decide to swallow him whole or something. But so far it seemed firm enough to hold him. Still he didn't trust it. It smelled weird.

When, at some point, the trees grew closer together the boy wished he had some way of getting into the trees so that he could see what was beyond them without having to squeeze his body through the closely grown trunks and underbrush. And if that thought had some sort of magic of its own his body deformed itself. A whimper broke forth from somewhere in his throat. His paws hand contorted, elongating itself and breaking into defined digits. He had no idea what was happening to him but he didn't it. He stumbled through the trees in a panic, finally breaking the line and crashing onto the beach. He was a deformed mass, stuck somewhere between lupus and optime forms. And in his mind he knew nothing of what was going on at all.

The white wolfess closed her golden eyes for a moment, taking in the sounds and smells of the area around her. The waves gently roared against the sparkling sands, and the sea breeze tickled against her nose happily. The seabirds squawked and cawed above the water, searching for prey beneath the undulating waves. It was so peaceful. The harmony of the area calmed every nerve in Xeris' body, as it always had in the past. She smiled.

And then, there was a different sound. Something of a "whimper-crash-bang!" Xeris abruptly opened her eyes and whirled around. There on the sand was a small wolf--at least, she was pretty sure it was a wolf--who seemed to be struggling. After a moment she realized that he seemed to be trying to shift. She quickly walked over toward him and knelt beside him. "Are you all right?"

No, Xeris, he's not very all right at the moment, she thought. Xeris decided that since he was having trouble shifting, he probably still wanted to be in his lupus form. "Think about having four legs and looking like a regular wolf," she said quietly. "Focus on your body and how you want it to be. You're going to be okay." Xeris only hoped that the young wolf would be able to get himself back into lupus form, because she didn't know anything else she could do besides tell him to focus.
