Two days. Two days old, and already so full of life, so healthy, so strong. Two days old, and already the tiny tan and gray creature had completely and thoroughly stolen Tokyo's elusive heart. There wasn't any real sense to it. Why now, with this child? Why hadn't these motherly instincts kicked in with her first litter? Every so fortunately, Tokyo had lots and lots of free time to contemplate these things. Her job was to keep this child warm, to keep food in his belly. Both were surely very important jobs, but neither took very much thought or active participation.

It must have been the particular circumstances of the first litter. She was still a kid, then, really. So young and innocent to the ways of the world. Tokyo hadn't even figured out she was pregnant until Champ left her because of it. She had no idea what was happening with her body, no clue how to deal with it, and no support from anyone. At that time in her life, she hadn't even had the security of a home. Sure, she had carved out a den somewhere, but it was rather arbitrarily chosen and she wasn't familiar with the territory at all. Now.. she was in a pack. This cave near the sea was not just a den, it was a home. It held her belongings - her shiny trinkets, her beautiful clothing, her books on fairy tales. The father of this child was someone she looked up to and respected. She knew without a doubt that King would turn out wonderfully.

The puppy at her side stirred, then nuzzled her side and began nursing. Tokyo's mind flitted back to the last time she had seen Cwmfen, before the woad-marked warrior had left the lands. They had talked about the importance of when puppies opened their eyes. Of how you could tell then, what their character would be. Tokyo was excited for her baby boy to get a look at the world, and to get a look at the wolf that he would become. Would his eyes be those of ice, like his mother? Electric blue, like his father? Or some random card flip of genetics, a shade of gold or brown or green? Whatever they were, she knew with complete certainty that they would hold a canny intelligence. With parents like his, what else could result?

Her black tipped maw affectionately nuzzled the squirming child to his squeaks of protest as he attempted to gorge his chubby body on more milk.

OOC: ooc-ness here!

Night had caught a scent when she had passed along the sandy beach. The smell was sweet and reminded her of this blue flower she had smelled only a few days before. She hadn't really liked the sweet smell, but it had been strong and it had made Night wonder if she could feel warmth from it. Of course it had caused no reaction in her, which lead her to destroy the flower in a very rare case of anger. Now her cold eyes stared at the cave where the sweet smell was coming from.

The sable girl was sure there were no flowers in that darkness, and a wolfs scent was coming from the den. Moving forward with no hesitation she went to the opening of the den and stuck her nose inside and started to inhale deeply. It was almost to much for her to take, her teeth bared at the strong aroma waffing off the den walls. Azure eyes looked around the darkness easily, seeing better in the dark area then when the sun was out. With eyes as blue as her own it wasn't a surprise they were sensitive to the suns light.

Her paw moving into the den and then another. She had never been in someones home other then her mothers back at Cour Des Miracles. As a right she got to live in her dead mothers den after she had died. No words came from her mouth as she sat down in the darkness looking at Tokyo with lifeless blue eyes. The pup was always cold, unless something triggered warmth or emotion inside her, which didn't happen as often as Night would like.

sorry for slow! 300 words

An unfamiliar dark form entered her home, and instinctively Tokyo rose to her feet in case it was a threat. A quick examination of the scent, though, relaxed her. It was a Dahlian she-puppy, one that had been present at the meeting yesterday but she had never seen before then. A stray, then, instead of one born into the pack? Of course it was possible that the girl belonged to one of the new members, or was even a child of one of the other females, but Tokyo thought she would have known had any Dahlian been pregnant. Gossip traveled. Had it been an adult, she would have been more worried about it's presence, but.. puppies didn't have the same sense of propriety that was drilled in as one reached maturity.

Tokyo's initial instinct around puppies, which was to be annoyed with them and shoo them away as fast as possible, was brushed aside in the face of curiosity at the dark girl's simple silence. Her biggest problem with children in general was usually the incessant chatter, the demand for attention, for play. This cub.. was simply sitting there, looking at her. It probably should have unsettled her some, but really it just sparked her interest. "Who are your parents?" She said with a kindness of tone that surprised even herself. Talking like that, towards a puppy? Maybe she was just faking it, she was probably just faking it, yes that made much more sense.. "What's your name?" Tokyo persisted, throwing words out into the empty silence.

King whined insistently, and the Dahlian lady glanced down then proceeded to lie herself back down on the floor of her den. He snuggled up against her, completely content now that his source of heat was back within reach where it should always be.

OOC: ooc-ness here!

Night stared into the darkness, her blue eyes could see clearly in the dark area. Her eyes were sensitive to the bright light so the change in light was a welcoming thing to her. The scent of the small pups made her nose itch and her ears lay flat on her young skull. She didn't understand all of what made new life, she had never been told by Whisper and there for didn't know. This women lay with her young so comfortably in her den, to Night it was confusing and strange. She didn't feel anything warm towards the sight, but the cold wasn't in her chest either.

The womens words were soft and gentle. It had no effect on the sable girl, but it wasn't something she was used to either. Anyone speaking to her at all wasn't something she was used to. A stoic face kept watching the women as questions were thrown at her. She shrugged not knowing who her parents really were, and didn't want to bring it up after what happened with Kaena the coyote. Her anger had been panic and fear things she both didn't understand.

Azure eyes looked at the women with a blankness in them. She didn't move or say anything as she sat there. Fear was forigen to her, she had felt it, but didn't know that. It was one of the many warmths she had encountered, but what it meant was something Night didn't know. Pain had never been part of her life and never would. It would have to be a learned thing for the black girl. Looking away from the women to give her gaze to nothing in general she answered the she wolfs question. "Night Thames."
