The gun was thrown in under her bed. There was no remorse in the young woman’s heart. For the first time since she had been stolen away from her mother’s loving embrace she had met someone connected to her by blood. Halo had met her older half-sister. Mew had an ivory fur with hints of gray just like Colibri Soul. Although her unstable mentality had slowly started to let go of the unreasonable rage that could flare up for no reason at all, she was still not in mental balance. Chaos had been introduced to her a few months back and more had come rambling into the door to join in. Within Halo’s mind ruled turmoil. It was amazing how tranquil her outer features were though. There was no blood on her hands. Her large ruby orbs glittered with false innocence in a face that could not be called anything less than beautiful. She knew that her beauty was mostly skin deep, but she was improving. The world was not her to play with, she had realized this. She had been caught, chewed and spitted out and learned her lesson well. Instead of curling into a pathetic ball and lost her courage, Halo had acted. She had greater respect for the creatures that lived in her world, but her main quest was simply to make sure she would be more dangerous than her co-beings. It would take time and dedication, but she had already cut an adult wolf up good and she had shot a hole in Haku Soul’s sister’s head.

The girl was dancing down the stairs as she started to notice the new scent that she somehow had managed to avoid until now. Perhaps she had assumed it was Cotl’s, but this was definitely different and less burdened by Inferni’s smoke and salt. It was clear that it was a close family member. Just like Halo could sense her own blood in others she could sense the genes that tied other family members together. She was unarmed – had left both swords and guns in her room, for there was no reason for her to fear her fellow Inferni members unless it was Samael Lykoi. Thinking of her devilish uncle caused discomfort to touch her, but she handled the weight of his doings better than previously. Kaena was right. Time healed invisible wounds – she just needed to let time mend them. She lightly stepped along the hallway towards the room where Cotl lived; curious of whom this new scent belonged to. Despite her dark expectations she had found that she rather enjoyed Cotl’s presence, so hopefully he wouldn’t think she was too nosy.

Marik knew his brother well. He knew that he would enjoy female company. Or well, that he only liked females. But Cotl was too much of a prude to do anything. To have the thoughts that constantly plagued Marik. But Cotl wasn’t around right now. It was only Marik there. Cotl had gone off to do whatever he was doing and Marik was being lazy and just laying around the room. He was looking over the drawing that his brother had been working on recently. He had no idea who it was of. Or well, his brother had told him a name but it didn’t explain much. He hadn’t met the female that this piece of work was centered around. He had to admit that his brother was good with detail. Had a fine eye for the female body. And what a fine female body it was. The sketching of the tattoo wasn’t bad either. Not something he would ever consider for himself but it wasn’t bad either. But then again he already knew his brother as a talented artist. After all Cotl had done all of the work on his body. Still this was an extensive piece. It would take some time. Perhaps multiple visits even. Just as the one covering his spine had done. But Marik had nowhere else to be and nothing else to do during that time. So he had just laid down and allowed for his brother to just draw on him. But then again he had always been Cotl’s canvas. He allowed his brother to experiment on him. Why else would he have so many tattoos and piercings? Because of the time they were fucked up and Marik would be the first to pass out which left Cotl bored and then the younger sibling waking up to find out that he had more work done. But then one along his spine he had consented to. He had actually happened to be awake throughout that one. Cotl had picked it out but Marik was pretty happy with it. But it made him wonder who had decided on this one. Did the female actually ask for this major piece or perhaps it was his brother’s influence yet again. Either way he wouldn’t mind seeing it when it was done. He was certain that Cotl would do it justice.

Fingertips lifted and stroked at the new tattoo that he had just gotten at his throat. It was one that many most likely wouldn’t understand. This small piece he had chosen for himself, as well at the exact placement. Fingers rubbed against the swastika at his throat. The poor little symbol had been tainted from its true meaning. But his brother understood it. Knew that it was actually a sign of well being and good fortune. And that was why Marik was wearing it proudly. Why he had insisted on it being place where everyone would be able to see it. Why he had wanted it to be permanent instead of Cotl going out searching for a charm. He didn’t care what others would think about it. He knew just what it meant. He knew that it was actually a good omen. And he intended upon wearing it well. It wasn’t as it be could get rid of it now. He couldn’t get rid of any of the marks on his body. But this new piece was really special to him. The lines of it were simple as was the design itself but that didn’t matter since it was the meaning that was important. It was the meaning that was valued. And well, that his brother had done it for him. Cotl really was talented in this sort of thing. He had a real gift. And it was being displayed over many bodies. Though Marik had to believe that his own was the one to display most of it. At least he didn’t imagine that others had gotten more work done than he did. And if so then he would just have to continue to bother Cotl for more. He would just have to let his older brother draw on him while he slept. Not that he wouldn’t imagine that Cotl would already start to do that on his own once he got used to having Marik around all of the time. He just figured that old habits would be fallen into again.

But then Marik was pulled from his thoughts by the sent of another outside of the door. It wasn’t his brother. Cotl would have walked right on in. But it did have the distinct smell of Inferni. Not that the hybrid was imagining the possibility of it being an outsider anyways. Not with the mansion in the heart of the territory. No, someone would have stopped a trespasser before they were able to get this far. Still, who would be coming to visit? Marik only really knew his brother and his friend from Germany. Only two coyotes in this clan that he had spent extensive amounts of time with. And those times took place before ever being here. So no, he doubted that it was someone for him. The scent wasn’t masculine at all. But if it was for his brother then wouldn’t they already realize that he was out? He would have thought that they would have. After all Cotl had taken to spending more time with the Inferni coyotes than with his own brother. It was only another reminder that this wasn’t really home to Marik. He wasn’t needed here. He was just and extra mouth to feed, though he was feeding his own and not leaning on the clan for anything. He doubted that even half of them knew about his presence. But still it didn’t explain away the unknown presence outside of his door.

“It’s open.” He finally called out the words, acknowledging that there was someone out there. The coyote and dog hybrid pushed himself off of the bed in order to move over to the door and pull it open. But what, or who rather, was standing there surprised him. The drawing that he had left laying on the bed had come to life. Well, all but the tattoo. That being confirmed as bi-colored gaze traveled over her body. What a wonderful body it was. A grin slipped over his lips as he looked back to her face. So what if she was nearly a foot taller than him and he had to tilt his head a bit to look up at her. Marik was already used to being shorter than most everyone. He was even shorter than his brother by an inch. “Well you must be Cotl’s muse. Have you come to model for him again? Or perhaps to get started on the work that has been discussed?”” He shifted so that he could motion towards the drawing laying on the bed, allowing for her to catch a glimpse of the paper.“He is out right now but you are welcome to come in and wait. And if you are impatient then I can go on and get you prepared. I’ve worked with him on a few pieces so you have nothing to worry about. And it would be no trouble at all. I certainly wouldn’t mind readying a goddess for her ascension into the gallery of finely crafted artwork.”

Cotl was probably the first member her that she had decided to give the title ‘friend’ that was outside of her family, though he was perhaps the first friend overall. Halo had met several individuals that could eventually have gotten on her good side, but there was little loyalty in many of the young creatures she had interacted with. Zana had been the first and only girl of her own age that she had met, and this immediately after she had been accepted by a seemingly reluctant Aquila that told her that Vitium Lykoi, her father, was nothing more than a traitor and a liar. Zana had helped her start off with her rodent project and today she had four full cages of insane rodents in the cellar and two – these not even half as populated as the killer rodent cages – for the rodents she trained for own use. Zana had left Inferni behind not long after the first rodents had been captured by the pair, and had only been the first of many, and her two brothers had been the next to leave her behind. She had kept from interacting with the majority of the clan because of her heavily muddled blood, and this was perhaps why it seemed like she had started to care about her pet rodents much more than she had intended to. They were supposed to be a mere tool. She had trained up her low speech and discovered that some of them were in fact very smart. Most of them understood her when she spoke in their language and even the simplest of them were able to understand and follow simple commands and retrieve items or gather information – though the more intellectual rodents would have to be sent if it was anything of importance that had to be gathered. A scurrying sound was heard far left and she knew that if there was a new member that intended to make the mansion their his or her home then Halo would have to explain what kind of rodents they were. They were not all that easy to train and she did not like the thought of having them killed off because an Inferni member was not aware of her hobby.

The young hybrid woman was quite certain that Cotl was somehow involved in the disappearance of several rodents since he had arrived. It greatly annoyed her, but she had yet to pick up the topic when they were around each other, for she would hate her possible tattoo to suddenly turn out ugly just because of some rodents. The smartest of her pets avoided traps with ease anyway, so what happened was usually that the dimmest of the animals were removed and replaced with brighter models. She had yet to see the flowers with their petals dipped in blood and was eager to check how far the male had gotten now when she was on her way to investigate who the newcomer was anyway. The young woman stopped outside of Cotl’s room and stood there hesitant for several moments. If the man had company of the wrong kind then she wouldn’t want to disturb. Rather, the fact was that she did not want to know about it in that case. It would crush her current opinion of him because of what had been done to her in the past. A grimace entered her face as she realized how nutty her thoughts were. It was amazing how far she could get with her bullshit before she realized it. Live and get over it; this she would as soon as Samael’s body no longer held life. She had her plan ready, and made an effort into not wondering what Kaena and Gabriel would think of her if they were to discover that it was her deed if she ever managed to fulfil her goal and take her crimson eyed uncle’s life. Things could definitely be solved differently had she only found the strength to tell her family what had been done to her, but the sad fact was that the girl was certain that they would have called her a liar and taken Samael’s side in the issue. Then what would have happened? She still feared that the Lykoi man would come to the mansion in the middle of the night and take her life.

A hard accented voice broke through the door and her hackles rose for the moment when she was caught by surprise. So they had heard her silent approach? She hesitated for another long moment before she slowly reached out of the door handle. Before she had managed to reach it, the door cringed away and was opened from the inside of the room. Crimson eyes rose to take in the form that should have been Cotl, but was not. There was less coyote in this male and the unexpected sight made her lips want to shy away from her fangs. She quickly grasped who he was though by both scent and accent and so managed to stay clear from displaying hostility. She had not been aware of strong dog blood in Cotl’s family, but apparently there was quite some. Inferni held more hybrids than pure blood anyway and she wondered why her first reaction had been to bare her teeth at the guy. Her surprised face quickly smoothed out into that lovely smile and peaceful expression again and she hoped her eyes had not revealed the fire that had wanted to flare up before she had recognized him for what he was. Ears perked curiously as the man already had started to speak and even seemed to recognize her as ‘Cotl’s muse’. She was unsure of how she felt well knowing that other people knew about her short modelling for the other German member and she felt a light blush gently pinch her cheeks as his compliment sounded, but her copper tones were too deep to display the touch of embarrassment. She who had always wanted others to adore her body seemed unable to settle with such a thought now. On the other hand though, did this mean that the tattoo sketch was done? Eyes lightened up at that thought and she discovered that Cotl’s brother had the same unique eyes where each eye bore not one, but two colours in two rings around the pupil.

He gesticulated over towards the bed and she immediately discovered the piece of paper resting there. Was it her finished tattoo? She did not linger by the paper though, and her orbs had just started to wander in search for Cotl when the small luperci revealed that he was out right now. She shrugged and let her gaze return to the male’s face. Both of the males seemed to share the love for body art, though she could not understand what was so marvellous about body piercings. All she could think of when she watched them was how it would be to have someone grab hold of them and rip them off. An invisible shudder ran through her and she decided that the male should know that she had a voice too. ”I’m here because I was curious who was staying with Cotl,” she started off, thinking it would be just as good to just announce the original reason why she was where so that she could fish for some additional information about this newcomer without having to be too obvious and nosy about it. She took a light breath and stepped into the room since he had so generously invited her to come in and wait. Her ruby eyes were drawn towards the piece of paper once again now. ”I did not know the tattoo sketch was finished yet,” she commented and turned to face the canine by the door. ”Mind if I take a look?” of course she could take a look, it was her body on the paper, but she had no idea if Cotl had intended to show it to her himself or not. Probably not if he let it lie around like that. The girl kept back a snort and turned to gaze down at her slender back and a field of blood soaked flowers. She did not recognize the flower’s name, but she found that she actually liked it.

Again she turned back to the man and she placed her hands behind her back like a shy schoolgirl on her first day. ”I see we’ve sort of met already then. I’m Halo Lykoi.” She had fully intended to learn how to socialize with the clan and since Cotl had been her first ‘friend’ then perhaps his brother wouldn’t turn out so bad either. Compared to his brother it seemed that whoever this guy was he had no speech problems that caused profanities to echo through the room. While it was just a matter of practise to filter the words out as Cotl spoke, she found that she sometimes was left with a headache. It was not his fault though for she knew that he could not do anything about the second shouting voice that always interrupted him. She thought of her other words though had decided not to answer them directly. They were sort of answered already when she had said that she had not known about the finished drawing. She looked over to it again and carefully picked it up. She thought it was attractive, but the size of it was intimidating. It surely looked better than she had expected it to though. The same scurrying sound suddenly returned from when she had been standing outside the male’s door and she turned to see number thirteen leap into the room and set course for her.

Marik’s friends remained in Germany. He hadn’t really made any here in Canada. At least not the type that he was used to. But then again his focus had been on other things. Like getting reacquainted with Cotl. Especially since they had been arguing off and on since Marik had gotten here. He had been working on a project to make up for some of the harsher words said and the musings to return to Germany. He had finished up the little doll earlier but had yet to find the right time to give it to his brother. It was nothing too impressive. At least not to Marik whom had some perfectionist issues on the things that he crafted. He found that it looked similar to himself but he couldn’t get it to look like an exact replica. That bothered him. And was a reason why he hadn’t shown it off yet. He was tempted to just throw it out and start over again. But then that would have been a week of wasted work. And he doubted that he would ever find a pelt that contained the exact color combination that he needed. That meant that the gray and white abomination would just have to work whenever he decided to finally bring it out of hiding. Perhaps their next fight would bring it out. He could use it as an apology gift. If Cotl would even accept it. Actually he didn’t know if his brother would even like such a silly little thing. But there was only one way to find that out and he was reluctant to do so. Especially since Cotl didn’t know he had it in him to create such things. It was impractical and so their father wouldn’t allow for it to be practiced. But the things their dad wanted him training in Marik had no interest to do so. He didn’t want to know how to fight because he didn’t want his father to end up pitting him against his brother as he feared would happen.

It wasn’t really the sound of approach that had alerted him but the scent of someone he didn’t recognize. He had no idea why anyone would stand outside of a door for so long. Since she had been standing still it couldn’t have been sound that had brought his attention to her but the lingering scent of someone standing around. What made it take someone so long to decide to knock? Not that the knock had ever actually came. He had spoken up and opened the door before that could ever happen. If it was ever even going to happen. Not that it had seemed like it would happen at all. But ah well, that didn’t exactly matter anymore now. What was more important was the look on her face. He laughed as it seemed he had caught her by surprise. Really now, he didn’t think he sounded that much like his brother. Or maybe it was because it wasn’t expected for another to be in Cotl’s room at all. Either way Marik still found it all be to amusing. The aggression wasn’t even noticed, or if it was then he didn’t show it. Marik could easily ignore that sort of stuff. It was something he usually did purposefully. He just wasn’t into fighting and all of that. He’d had enough of that with his father, whom Cotl favored a bit more. Marik looked more like their dog mother with the floppy ears and all.

All of Marik’s body modifications had come from Cotl, a number of them taking place while Marik was passed out. Apparently his brother had thought he needed some decorating while he slept. So now he was basically a walking advertisement for what Cotl was capable of. The swastika was the one thing that he had actually asked for. That and the piercing at the base of his tail. Everything else was mostly Cotl just being artistic and using Marik as his personal canvas. But it at least showed that Cotl was capable of large pieces as well as smaller one. “Well it is just me staying with him.” He spoke the words with a bit of a shrug. It was pretty much just stating the obvious. It wasn’t like Cotl was throwing wild orgies. His brother was too much of a prude for that. His slightly older sibling just didn’t know how to have any fun at all. Really now, he sat alone in the room when he would drink and smoke. That is the sort of thing that you are supposed to do with a large group of friends out by a large fire.

“He finished it not too long ago.” When Marik had first seen it the flowers didn’t have the blood on them. That was a recent addition. As for when Cotl had planned on showing her he wasn’t too sure about that one. For all he knew his brother could have been too nervous to approach her. After all the older boy was the one that was socially awkward and Marik found it easy to slip into conversation, usually flirting and saying whatever first came to mind.
“Cotl has skill but not even he could capture the full extent of your beauty.” What? He wasn’t going to lie about it. The female looked better in person than she did on the paper and the paper version was gorgeous. That just had to make the real thing exquisite. A rare gem in its finest form. It made him want to force Cotl to allow him to sit in when the tattoo was being done. “It is large but I think you can pull it off. And you don’t have to worry about Cotl messing it up. After all he is the one that decorated me.” He pointed to the simple lines of the tattoo at his throat. “That is the most recent one.” The one that Marik had specifically asked for because of its actual meaning. “The hardest part will probably be trying to care for it as it heals. Though I am always available if you need help washing it.” It wasn’t like Marik hadn’t needed help with the extensive work on his own back. He had to have Cotl treat that one for him.

“It is my pleasure Fräulein Lykoi. I am Marik, Cotl’s brother as you may have guessed.” He introduced himself as her demeanor seemed to suddenly change. The way she was positioned now had his heart skipping a beat and breath catching in his throat. He had to concentrate in order to prevent whining needily. Shy certainly worked for her. It had him closing the distance between them as she picked up the paper to study it again. “You can always get it done in pieces if you are afraid of getting it all done at once.” He spoke the words softly, trying to reassure her. He smiled a bit and reached out to try to gently caress her side and back. “I’m certain Cotl won’t mind breaking it down into pieces for you. After all it will take a bit of time to do it all even if it is done in a single sitting.” He kept his voice soft and soothing, though the deep accent still remained. The accent was something he was unable to part with. But it was also part of his charm. He was entirely used to the socially awkward. After all he had Cotl for a brother. Back in Germany his brother was more of a recluse than he was here. But then again Cotl was being kept locked away so as to not be a disgrace to their father. So none of this was all that new to him. For awhile he was the only one that Cotl would talk to. But then again he was the one always visiting his brother. And when Marik would bring friends along then his brother was usually too concentrated on decorating the younger boy’s friends to think to speak. So to him this was just natural. The way that he had used to have to soothe his brother.

His attention shifted to the door at the sound of tiny claws scraping against the floor. Eyes landed onto the rat that was scurrying into the room. “Hey now, you don’t want to be in here when Cotl gets back and decides he is hungry.” He spoke to the rodent. To Marik there just wasn’t enough meat on the tiny bones. At least grouse and hares had more than that. And well, Marik enjoyed the hunt through the forest anyways. He liked catching things with his hands more than using the traps like his brother did. Though lately Cotl didn’t seem to be having much luck with his traps. “Come on little guy, you better disappear before he gets back.” He spoke the words and moved towards the rat to try and shoo it away from the room. But then he thought about it and glanced over to Halo. “I swear Cotl doesn’t normally have rats running around his room. He keeps this place clean. I uh… I’m not sure why this one is in here.” After all he didn’t want to give her a bad impression. He didn’t want the sudden appearance of a rat to have her decide not to get the tattoo after his brother had put so much effort into trying to make it pleasing for her.

She nodded and thought it only to be natural that the brothers were to live together for a bit. If this male had just arrived it would only make sense to start out at his brother’s. She did not understand why it was necessary to live in the same room though, as the mansion was large and still stunningly empty if one took into consideration how many people it could fit. Halo liked her peace and quiet though. It had been sort of hard for her to accept Cotl before they had gotten to know each other better because the girl had been so used to living all alone with her rodents. She would have to show more caution with them now, for she could understand if the rest of the clan members did not share her excitement for the rodents. The man’s words of her supposed beauty brought her fleeting mind back to the present and she could feel the blush spread rapidly. Knowing well that she would be unable to hold her gaze at his face, she did not even attempt to look up at him now. Lips curled slightly upwards in mild embarrassment and again she found herself wondering why this was. She knew very well how she looked. A light sigh passed through her slightly parted lips and she pushed his flattening words aside as she mumbled a low ”Thank you.”

Whether or not she would be able to pull it off with such a large decoration would remain a mystery for now. She shrugged lightly as the male spoke and introduced yet another problem that would rise if she went through with the tattoo. Cleaning it. It had not been particularly hard to care for her blistering red Chaos star, but this would prove much more difficult as it would cover a large part of her back where it would be hard for her to reach. She liked the tattoo that was pointed out that was located on the shorter male’s throat. She was unfamiliar with those associations a human likely would have, and therefore she could freely appreciate its simplicity and design. ”Hmm, what an interesting offer,” the girl said and flashed a light grin at the other. If she was to go through with it though it was more than likely that she would ask him to do her that favor. If she found the courage, that was. Although she did not shy away from every touch, she had quickly realized after the rape that she had difficulties with males that had not been present before. Whether or not she would handle this male’s hands rubbing away on her was hard to say. She felt so horrible for feeling that way, but the fear had been forced on her. Maybe just jumping into it would be a way to cope with what had happened.

Now was the time for him to present himself and she nodded lightly and kept her light hearted smile glued on her delicate face. ”You two have the same strange eyes,” she commented, putting light pressure on the word strange in an attempt to make it sound positive, as the word could be taken both ways. She quite adored their unique shades of red and blue. She had never seen anything similar before, that was for certain. ”Yeah, I imagine getting the whole thing would take quite some time. My chaos star took an hour or two if I’m not mistaken.” She let the hand rise to the tattoo that had truly made her a Lykoi and stroke it lovingly. She had no idea how long the tattoo had actually taken, for the seconds had passed slowly as the sharp needle had injected dye into what had felt as her flesh.

Her eyes grew cautious when the rodent was inside the room, for she knew that for some it would make most sense to try to stomp on it or kill it in some way. She squatted down and produced a light whistle that sped up the well fed rat. Number thirteen obediently settled in her offered palms and she rose again and gently patted the well behaved animal. Ears swiveled back towards her skull and she let her gaze dance over to the doggish male. Her eyes were apologetic and she shrugged her shoulders a second time. ”He doesn’t, this one belongs to me, I’m afraid. One of my hobbies is training rats and some of the well trained ones I usually let run free as they please.” The woman frowned lightly, but she would not go as far to feel ashamed for her love for the rodents she held. They were useful and not at all as horrible and dirty as everyone thought them to be. ”I loved alone her in the mansion for quite some time, so I’ve developed some bad habits, I guess,” she added, sort of apologizing for letting rats run around. Obviously Marik had yet to take a peek into the basement where the cages of her killer rodents were kept. ”This is Thirteen,” she sang out now, introducing the rat and its number; holding it out somewhat if he ever felt the need to take a closer look.

Cotl wouldn’t let him leave the room. At least not yet. His brother would complain about it being too cold to be alone during the winter. So he wasn’t allowed to live alone until the cold slacked up. But he didn’t particularly mind. It was a little known fact that Cotl actually liked to cuddle at night so Marik got the touch that calmed him. So it actually worked for them to live together. It was just another aspect of their strange relationship that others wouldn’t understand. Besides, Marik wouldn’t feel right leaving his brother alone. Not after the male had been forced to be alone for so long. So others might question the relationship but it worked out for the brothers. Besides, it wasn’t like everyone had to know about their sleeping arrangements anyways. It wasn’t the whole clan’s business if they snuggled at night or not. It was their own private business. It didn’t affect anyone else in the clan.

He smiled and shook his head. “No, thank you.” What else could he say? He was only speaking the truth and she was allowing for it. So what if he was apt to flirt with anyone? Right now Halo was the only one around for him to concentrate his attention on. The only one there for him to focus on. And so that made her the center of all his flirting. Though he actually believed what he was saying. Halo was like a goddess. She was the embodiment of the perfect coyote. So what if she had her strange quirks? Everyone had strange quirks. It was especially known that Cotl did but Marik had his own set as well. So what if Halo talked to rodents? Marik talked to everyone. He wasn’t prejudiced against anything. And that was an all encompassing statement. It went for about every aspect of his life, of all lives, of all things in general.

“I’m serious about it. I had to have Cotl do my back for me. And well, I haven’t really been that busy lately so I have the time.” And he had the experience with caring for his own. And Marik knew better than to cross boundaries. He might edge on up to that line and rest there but he would never cross without permission. Cotl was the one that could really attest to this. He encroached upon that line with his brother from time to time but knew better than to do anything too out of the way. He understood the word no even if it didn’t seem like it all the time. While he might trade punishment he only went with willing partners. He had at least one stipulation, or two, when it came to physical partners. Always willing and always the trading of marks. What was the point of doing anything if you didn’t have something to remember it by?

He laughed and nodded his head. He didn’t take the comment negatively at all. Then again he was used to weird remarks about his looks. It was either the curiosity of just what he was, or the number of modifications that he had, and sometim“Thank you, I know. How else would anyone be able to tell that we are family?” Certainly not by first glance looks, unless the modifications were taken into account. But that didn’t seem like such an unpopular thing with how busy it used to keep his brother. “Your eyes are beautiful. Intelligent.” He spoke the words softly as he stared into her eyes. After all you could tell a lot about someone through their eyes. He smiled and pulled his gaze away when she mentioned the tattoo that she already possessed. Without even thinking about it first he reached out to touch it. To run his fingers against the lines in order to trace out the shape. It was a finely crafted piece and seemed to be very dear to Halo. “What does it mean?” The words were asked as he looked back up to her face. It didn’t matter what it meant in general but he was more interested in what it meant to her. After all, with the way she had touched it, she seemed to care for it and cherish it. That gave it a special meaning all its own.

He waved off her apology with a shake of his head. “Don’t worry about it. Everyone has their unique quirks. I’m sure you’ve already noticed my brother’s. So what if you keep rats? I’d just be careful with them cause Cotl hunts with traps.” Not that he was saying that his brother has been killing off the rodents. He had no idea about that one. He just knew that his brother set traps but he didn’t know where they were placed. So mostly it was a warning for just in case measures and not really a knowledge of anything that was going on. It wasn’t like he kept that close of dibs on his brother in order to watch just what he ate and when. The way it had been so far he only saw the other at night, when they were both ready to settle down and turn in. Marik hadn’t bothered to pry too much into what went on during the days when they were separated.

When the rodent was held out towards him he leaned in close to look at it. He even went a step further to grab the rat’s right paw between a couple of fingers in order to shake it in the imitation of an actual handshake. “Hello there, Mr. Thirteen. I’m Marik. I have to say that you are lucky to have such a beautiful and loving mommy.” He knew nothing about low speech but was carrying on as if he was having an actual conversation. But then again he could find some strange ways to amuse himself. The skulls marking the border had already participated in that one.

Whoaaa I'm late Sad wc 5

Her sweet smile hovered again when the man insisted that his offer was sincere. She did not doubt it and was quite satisfied knowing that her tattoo would be in good hands. Both of the brothers seemed to possess knowledge about body art. She knew very little. She had been terrified when she had received her crimson star. First she had feared that Kaena’s hand failed, and then when the perfect star had shone for a moment on her chest, she was afraid to ruin it as it healed. As her skin had swelled up and turned red she had feared for the design to suffer, but it had turned out beautifully. A larger design covering the majority of her back would not be that simple though, and she would probably have worried herself sick if Marik had not offered his assistance.

”I’ll remember that, then.” her light voice stated with appreciation. He drifted over to respond to her comment about the similarity between the brothers. With such stunning eyes there really could be no doubt despite Marik’s strong hint of dog in his features. Again a compliment rose and she felt her face redden slightly again. Intelligent? The girl had obtained a certain amount of self insight as she had grown from an arrogant snot into a damaged woman, but had never thought herself to be particularly intelligent. The eyes too were commonly seen in Inferni, though she did agree with the beauty of the deep scarlet colour. It bothered her that her face turned hot again – she never would have felt this shyness in the past. Was she anything like her old self anymore?

Ruby orbs widened in surprise, then flashed with fear as the man suddenly reached out to touch the star branded beneath her collarbone. Her mind reminded her who had last let his hand run down her body and she could not keep the shiver from shaking her body gently. Her hand rose swiftly to partially cover the tattoo, clearly unwilling to let him touch her. Disappointment was sour in her mouth at herself. Marik was not dangerous. Samael had always possessed the aura of danger, but this man was kind to her and only showed interest in the art displayed on her chest. Her hand sunk again and she grimaced slightly, though reluctant to share with him the reason why she was so jumpy and unwilling of such a simple thing. She too adored letting her fingers run over scars and brands, so she fully understood him despite the reaction her body had forced on her.

Her soft gaze was apologetic, but instead of stammering an excuse, she jumped on to answer his question. ”It is the chaos star, the mark of the Lykois.” She was so fucking proud of her star, one of the things that truly had allowed her to settle in and feel like a member of the family. She had been conceived through rape and half raised by her ivory wolf mother, half raised by her lying bastard father – she had never known the feeling of belonging before the first time Kaena Lykoi embraced her. Her smile was back again, though not as secure and sincere as it had been before she had made a fool out of herself.

Now, with the rat, she was relieved that he did not award her with a frown. Her ear twitched gently when Cotl’s traps were mentioned though – strangely the other male had failed to mention such a fact despite knowing that the woman let some of her better behaved rodents run free. Some of her rodents less gifted with brains than others had disappeared and she had guessed why, but it saddened her that Cotl had kept from mentioning his own hobby. ”First I trained rats to kill off wolves,” she sincerely confessed, wondering how he would take that as she seemed anything but bloodthirsty at her current state. She had her moments still, though.

“But I realized that they are intelligent creatures, not filthy and as primal as everyone seem to think.” they were extremely useful creatures and they had also kept her company when the large house had been hers alone. Her smile brightened when the doggish male reached out for the rodent and spoke directly to it. His acceptance and reaction to the rodent was unlike any other reaction she had seen. Irritation came over her at once though – she was not the rodent’s mommy. The intention of the rodent training was to use them, not love them. She would not openly admit it, at least not yet, but she actually did feel for and appreciated her rodents. ”They are very useful.” she finished and let a finger gently stroke the rodent’s surprisingly soft fur.
