The lands were far too quiet. Nothing seemed to be happening, nothing at all. Jedidiah didn't exactly know what to do with himself. Part of him knew that he needed to return to Halifax, to retrieve more medical supplies. He had no gauze, he had no syringes, nothing. He needed more than a bag and a handful of herbs. They weren't even good herbs, just whatever weeds grew near Inferni. Furious with himself, the coyote stalked out of his cave. How was he going to prove himself worthy if coyotes became injured and he would end up standing there, hopelessly shrugging. Disappointing everyone. However, he would not despair. God would not let him despair. He inhaled slowly, feeling his lungs take in the oxygen. He held it in, eyes closed, then exhaled. For Jedidiah, it was something akin to prayer. It made him calm down in seconds, sometimes allowing his mind to focus much easier. Prayer was all good and he would never find anything like it, but in the midst of battle, he did not have time for that. God would understand that he did not mean to sin and that indeed, he thought nothing would ever replace that feeling of communion.

For now, however, Jedidiah needed to occupy his time. His cave, his home, gave him a good view of the borders. The skulls did not bother him. Those who walked against Gabriel deserved to be punished, it was as simple as that. Why would they refuse to understand? Why war against one who had been touched by the hand of the Lord? He padded out into the open and looked around. If war came within these borders, what would they do? How would they survive? Where could he place the infirmary? These questions nagged at him and he would find answers. He would prove his worth to Gabriel. Still, he was alone and without the aid of another, he had no chance to find everything on his own. Heading in the general direction of the mansion (the headquarters for the infirmary, he'd decided), Jedidiah hoped that he would bump into something. Someone. Someone who had answers to all his questions.
