Rizu was not normally the type of coyote who found herself at the borders of unknown lands and destinations. She was normally a well rounded female whom kept close to her family and friends, ignoring their faults and accepting their stories. Until recently. The events that had taken place within her own clan were to horrible to think of, yet alone whisper to a comforting ear. She found the only way to escape such memories was to travel as far away from home as she possibly could. It seemed for now though Rizu could travel no further. Weary to the bone the young female looked warily around her as she broke free of dense brush to look upon a far stretch of beach that bordered an inlet that led into vast waters.

She hugged herself as the rain, that seemed to never stop, bit at her fur along with the water being blown in from the bay, the morning holding a bitter chill even as the day slowly progressed into the afternoon. It seemed Rizuka would have to make camp here until someone came across her. Turning back into the woods that bordered the beach and the scent of a claimed territory Rizu started to search for wood that was unmarked by the damp to build a small fire, though she knew her task was quite futile since it had rained for a few days now and was only doing such a thing occupy her mind for now. Rizu was certainly a pretty though could never claim so herself, even for being quite scrawny from a long travels she wasn't the most plain of coyotes out there. Her eyes were an ever changing hazel, and her form shapely enough. Her fur which was normally sprinkled sand and tan was dark and damp now, her breast band and shorts damp as well from traveling in the rain for so long. Her dark brown hair which was in dreadlocks carried only beads of the rain that had escaped the grasps of the leafy cover above, though a tad frizzy from being damp for so long.

All together she looked like an innocent enough traveler, with a small belt knife placed neatly in one of her pockets, and a brightly colored bracelet that bore the different colors of her birth clan, families status and name. She only kept such a thing to remind her of her past, and looking upon it now she frowned, distracted from her task to stand still and gaze down at her wrist, clearly wrapped up in thought as she had so often been on her long journey here. She hoped one day she would be able to elude the mesmerizing grasp of her bracelet, but for now she would remain trapped in its trance until she could pull herself back to the present and more pressing things.

He almost hadn't bothered. Both the clan and the wolf were long overdue for some peace and quiet. Anselm didn't feel as if he'd had any since the fire, since immediately afterwards he'd found himself scouting and trying to gather intelligence on the other packs. After that, Dahlia de Mai had started the war, which had gone on for three very long months. And even when that was resolved, they still had to hunt down Andre and give him what he deserved. What next?
Rain. It was raining all morning, and initially he had rolled over and gone right back to bed. When he awoke once more closer to the afternoon, he again considered staying in because of the weather, but eventually he convinced himself that he needed to get going. It was still decently warm out and even if it weren't, he knew that foul weather was no excuse for neglecting border patrol. He'd slept enough, anyway, and he'd grow restless confined to his den.
Setting off at an easy lope, Anselm worked his way around the edges of Inferni's territory. Every so often he'd stop to scent mark or shake off, although he knew both of these things were relatively futile given the constant rain. Eventually, he noticed a scent that was unknown--coyote, female. Head low to the ground and tail whisking back and forth behind him, he began to track the odour and before too long he came across the shifted female.
His eyes roamed over her body several times, noting the curves, coat colour, and markings. She wore clothes. That seemed to be the new trend lately, although he knew he'd never get into it. Hypothetically pockets might be convenient, but a pack could serve the purpose as well and it wasn't awkward. Her hair style was particularly unique, and he regarded her for a few moments curiously, before tilting his head slightly to one side as if to ask for her spiel. She didn't look related to anybody he knew, but he wasn't always good at picking up on such things. Hopefully she'd explain herself at his non-verbal prompting.

It was a light breeze that bore new scents along with it that broke Rizuka of her trance, hazel eyes glancing up to only come upon what appeared to be a wolf in appearance. Caught by surprise of the fact that he had gotten so close to her without her even realising Rizu tensed up, snapping the string that held her beads together as she had been playing absently with it, sending her bright colored memory to scatter on the forest floor. Reaching out her hand to brace herself on a nearby tree as she lost balance and stumbled back she gazed down with a mixed look crossing her features; namely a frown as she considered picking up what remained of her only keep sake. Instead she looked to the caramel and crimson male who wore the form of a wolf. "Hey," she said rather tentatively, her ears flattening as she continued to rest her hand on the cool bark of the tree.

"Do you, um," she began, looking toward where this stranger might have come from, "do you belong to the pack here?" Rizuka questioned, rather asking then guessing by scent if he was part of the pack that she wandered the borders of or not. She felt awkward having to ask such a thing, for she had never been faced with such a situation before, and she quickly hugged herself, rubbing her arms as she looked on with hazel eyes that had started to border on olive, seeming as if they wished to blend in with their surroundings as she wished to do so as well. It was quite unlike Rizuka to be so unsure of a situation, but it seemed there was a first time for everything.

Maybe he should have said something. His eyes followed the beads that fell and scattered about on the damp forest floor, and then they pulled up again to her face as she stumbled backing away from him. He wasn't sure if he was supposed to be amused, confused, or irritated. Had he freaked her out that badly? Even if he didn't look particularly coyote, the borders reeked of his own scent--he obviously belonged here. Failing that, he was in his quadruped state while she was shifted. She towered over him and his posture was relatively neutral.
Quickly he resolved to introduce himself--hopefully that would clear up any confusion or concerns. His wolf-like appearance could be kind of troubling to coyotes, although lately he'd just gotten used to everyone in Inferni knowing who he was. "Yeah; Anselm, Praetorian or Beta or whatever you want to call it of the Inferni clan." He paused, continuing to study her calmly from a safe distance. "You seem awfully uneasy. Why."
Had some wolves been harassing her? He'd bloody well hope not--now that the war was over, that sort of shit was supposed to stop. If nothing else, he hoped the other packs would rather leave them alone rather than get caught up in a battle, since Inferni was clearly willing to fight. And beyond that, Esper Hollow should hopefully have been changing some people's opinions of coyotes not affiliated with the seaside clan. Then again, logic was sometimes too much to hope for. Either way, if there was a threat in the area he wanted to hear about it.

She ducked her head down as he spoke, shy that he thought her uneasy when she had just been preoccupied. "You just caught me off guard, that's all." She said in way of explanation, dropping her arms down to her sides as she glanced down at the beads once more. Crouching down she picked up a red one that held an odd black symbold upon it, rolling it between her index finger and thumb as she remained crouched so she would not have to look down at Anselm, and he up at her as she offered a hint of a smile. "My name is Rizuka," she said in way of introduction, "most call me Rizu though. I was hoping to find a place to stay.." Rizu trailed off, glancing up at Anselm as she continued. "Perhaps you have room for me in Inferni? I don't plan on just freeloading of course, I'll earn my keep." She then neatly tucked the bead in her pocket, standing straight so her muscles would not cramp.

"Well, you ought to be more on your toes, then. I'm not sure how things went where you were from, but around here some of the wolves like to fuck with us for no reason at all." He was blunt, as always, but he also had an important and relevant message. "Anyway, you came at a good time. Inferni has recently gotten out of a war. It was between us and Dahlia de Mai to the west. I'm telling you this because as a member, you are forbidden to go there. We reached a ceasefire agreement, but that doesn't mean things are very stable." Any little thing would probably set them off.
"Just south of Dahlia de Mai is another pack called Esper Hollow. They are currently experiencing some sort of epidemic. Obviously we don't want that working its way back here." A small grin formed at the corner of his mouth and he peered back up at her somewhat impishly. "Obviously you are welcome here. The real question, then, is if you still want to stay." A rough laugh threatened to escape him, but he kept his mouth shut lest he look insane. Anselm just didn't think it was fair to sign others up without them knowing what they were getting into--they might not stay once they found out, anyway. War, plague.. yeah, and this was the happiest he'd ever been.

Rizu's eyebrow slowly rose as Anselm spoke, eyes a tad wide in surprise about what was currently going on in the area. She was not surprised about the news of wolves, she had not met many for her clan always seemed to avoid them, and they avoided her clan. She certainly wasn't going to base her thoughts on wolves just by what a complete stranger said, but it certainly gave her something to think about. "Seems like you've had your plate full," Rizuka commented, tempted to smile herself but refraining as she ran her finger down the seam in her shorts. She had a lot to consider about this place, but she was open to feeling it out for the time. It couldn't be worse then what had happened back home. "I'll give it a try," she finally said with a small grin. "I'm always up for a challenge." A bit of her old self was starting to peek through as she started to get used to Anselm, and her tail offered the smallest of wags as she looked out from under her lashes at the male. Time could only tell, and she was willing to spend some of it here to see if she had found herself a new home or not.

I'll post for someone to get you titled up! :]

Sometimes he wondered what he would do if his plate were not so full. He could entertain himself for a remarkably long time simply exercising or practising new hands-on skills, but what if a time came when he'd mastered all he could and he was bored of training? What if the fights stopped and it wasn't even that important any more? Maybe that was why he remained stable in the face of all this nonsense--without it, he'd have too much time to get stuck inside his own mind. He needed and thrived off of it, even though it would probably kill him one day.
For now, he was just glad to see some sort of change come over the girl. She was more relaxed, more casual, and more confident. Good. The mad grin faded and morphed into something more genuinely pleasant. "Fair enough; good attitude. For your reference, there are some caves in the centre of the territory... if you'd like to escape the rain. I've got to finish my rounds, though. Take care." With that, he dipped his head to her, turned, and began working his way through the forest once more.
