001 dwindle, peak, and pine Dawali Amara (09/05/16) After having wandered for a very long time, Hemming stumbles across AniWaya territory and decides that maybe it's time to settle down. He meets Dawali Amara, gets along well with him, and becomes part of the tribe. All this makes Hemming quite pleased - a new friend, a new place, and endless possibility! 002 a hundred thousand destinations Anu (09/05/18) Hemming finds a jellyfish stranded on the shore at low tide, and is approached by Anu. Together, they carry the jelly back to the water and let it go. Satisfied with their successful rescue mission, they relax by floating on the waves. 003 a song and dance invisible Ember Phoenix (09/05/19) Hemming stumbles upon the stables and admires the horses for a few moments before Ember Phoenix brings her new horse in. They talk, Hemming is told he might be able to help Ember train some horses, and she shows him where her den is. He picks a cave nearby, and Ember brings some furs over to make it cozy. 004 soaking in scenery Attila Aston (09/05/21) While admiring the scenery at Beast's Grin Peninsula, Hemming is approached by Attila Aston, who claims that the shore is his. Alternatively, he offers Hemming a challenge to complete in order to gain permission to be there. Hemming, taking the game in good fun, agrees, and is taken to Ghostly Hollow, where he is told to find the skull of a fellow canine. Knowing that he would get lost if he dared to enter the many pathways branching off from the main room, Hemming declines and offers to bring the youngster back with some string and a torch. Just as he's leaving, Attila ambushes him, an act that leaves a sour taste in his mouth. 005 two intellectuals Maldrid (09/05/22) Hemming follows the "music of the trees" to Grandfather's Tears, where Maldrid is playing his lute. Sitting down with his feet in a spring, Hemming listens to the other's music and learns a bit about the history of Serena Reserve and about the curse of Grandfather's Tears, as well as a bit about Maldrid's past. 006 ex cineribus Amaranth (09/05/24) ҩ Hemming meets Amaranth, another new AniWaya member, at Grandfather's Tears. 007 the rhythms of a landscape that is breathing Catherine (09/05/30) Hemming meets Catherine, and learns a lot about Spirit Guides and life in AniWaya. 008 the writing in the sky Anu (09/06/02) Hemming is flying a kite he just finished making when Anu shows up. The two fly the kite together for a very short time before the string breaks and the kite flies away. They chase it down, and when it gets caught in a tree, Anu climbs up to rescue it. Hemming fixes the kite up a little before giving it to Anu as a gift. 009 when our mouths are filled with fire Ember Phoenix (09/06/05) Ember takes Hemming hunting. She explains the basic premise, and Hemming offers the use of a few spears he has made. They each take down a deer. Hemming feels as if he learnt a lot, both about hunting and working in a team. 010 spread the fire Asha Amara (09/06/08) Hemming meets Asha and they have a play sword fight, complete with pretending to be in the time of knights and princesses. 011 worn by time and wormholes Kansas Sadira (09/06/13) Wandering down the shoreline, Hemming spots a fossil and crouches to inspect it. Kansas comes along and looks at it too, and the two wolves go fossil hunting. Kansas finds another and they ogle it too. The two wolves agree to take a trip to Halifax together to look for books about fossils and learn more about the ones they have found. 012 the call of constellations Midnight Massacre (09/06/13) Hemming is stargazing when a white coyote trips over him. They end up lying beneath the stars, and though the other does not reply Hemming points out a few constellations. 013 learn by doing AniWaya — Dawali, Noir, Aurèle, Catherine, Attila, Ocèane, Asha, Ember (09/06/17) Hemming participates in a tribe hunt and develops a basic understanding of how they work, and also sees some faces he hasn't seen before. 014 learning how to travel in time Princess Chance (09/06/18) Hemming is lying on a dock when Princess comes along. They decide to explore a human house. Hemming finds a couple books and a strange wiggly thing, which the two wolves puzzle over for a while. After some more exploration, they move to the next house to find that it is pretty much the same as the first. Since it's getting late, and the houses are starting to lose their allure, the two wolves part ways and head back home. 015 give you my wings Dagrun (09/06/22 to 24) Hemming goes on his journey. He wanders south, mostly through the forest but also along the shore. On the night of the 23rd, there is a thunderstorm, and he seeks shelter in some trees on the edge of a forest. He ends up falling asleep. When he wakes in the morning, there is a Willow Flycatcher sitting on his head. When Hemming starts to stir, so does the bird. Hemming was born in central Canada on May 5, 2005. His birthpack originated from a small group of wolves that left a pack that wandered Scandinavia. Many generations later, by the time that Hemming was born, the Canadian pack had lost much of its Scandinavian culture, and was very loosely structured. After about six months in the pack, Hemming started to wander away, coming back occasionally due to feelings of obligation. His presence became more and more sporadic, until, at an age of about one year, Hemming left for good. He headed out East, occasionally setting up camps and staying for a while before moving on again. At an age of about two and a half, he settled down in New Brunswick, where he set up a much more elaborate camp. His living situation included a treehouse of sorts, which was large enough for a hammock, a bookshelf, and a desk. Down below, on the ground, he kept a fire pit with a few cooking tools set up. He also had a small shed where he stored traps and hunting tools. For the most part, he busied himself in reading books that he collected from towns and cities nearby, as well as using human equipment such as microscopes and telescopes. While he had a few companions during his wanderings and even once while he had set up camp, Hemming lived largely on his own. The characters in the books he read were his company, and the things he learned kept him busy enough to not feel any strong desire to have real friends. Eventually, though, he felt it was time to go on another adventure. He picked out a few of his favourite books - but not the most special ones, in case they were wrecked by rain or mud - to keep him entertained, and packed them in a sack backpack with a small hand-held telescope. After saying careful goodbyes to his camp and the things it held, he continued east. After a lot of completely undirected wandering, Hemming stumbled upon AniWaya land, liked the look of it, and decided to settle down. |
